Basic intentions/principal goals of year seven project “I love reading”:

In the course of this project work, year seven students have been presented with major representatives of various genres taken from English literature. The selected texts were supposed to arouse interest in and fascination for reading. Furthermore the activity of reading was interwoven with the application of speaking, writing and listening abilities. In addition a major focus was the extensive treatment of a so called “language of interpretation” for analyzing literary texts.

The students were confronted with contextual analysis (“The Landlady”), age-related problems (“Little Johnny`s final letter” and “What happened to Lulu”) as well as serious moral dilemmas (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). Moreover, unusual experiences of sentimental feelings and moods (“Stopping by woods” and “Stop all the clocks”) were explored. On the whole the students enjoyed this “challenging undertaking” and came up with interesting theories and ideas in their final presentations.
